All for making content-creation with Live2D more accessible and free.
Live2D technology has widely been employed by major game developers and animation studios, but the public release of Cubism series in October 2013 and introduction of Live2D Creative Award (currently calling for entires) has boosted the user base among indie creators. The top request from indie creators has been for a more free and indie-friendly license framework, which is why we have decided to provide the license exemption program to individual users and small businesses*.
As our vision states, we aim to give the world an ultimate tool for those who love to draw and animate their drawing and for those who appreciate the authenticity of such art form. We are committed to accelerating technological development and providing continuous support in order to realize the vision and to contribute to the culture of User Generated Contents (UGC) and the entire genre of 2D graphics.
* “Small businesses” means entities, both individuals and companies, with the annual gross revenues under ten million (10,000,000) JPY for the most recent fiscal year.
To apply for the license exemption program, individual users and small businesses must agree to the terms and conditions in the application form. (This application form is no longer needed to be exempted from the license.)
* Using pre-built models provided by Cybernoids for commercial purposes also requires the agreement and application above, but separate conditions apply for Hatsune Miku model: http://piapro.net/en_for_creators.html
